The Trayvon Martin Foundation receives $50,000.00, scholarship from community organizations and businesses

Four high school seniors to be awarded college scholarships

ORLANDO, FL – Boyland Auto Group, LLC, Invictus Law Group, P.L., Boyz-4-Lyfe, and the brothers of Delta Xi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., have joined forces to donate four college scholarships in the total amount of $50,000.00, to the Trayvon Martin Foundation.

The scholarship will be awarded in Spring of 2014 to four graduating seniors at Dr. Michael Krop Senior High School in Miami, Florida, the school Martin attended. The purpose of the scholarship is to provide educational opportunities for disadvantaged students in memory of Trayvon Martin. The Scholarship will be presented to  Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin on Saturday night on August 31, 2013 at a private residence in Isleworth, Fla.

“The purpose of this scholarship is to bridge the socio-economic gap among young people of color in the U.S., through educational opportunities for disadvantaged students who cannot afford a college education,” said the CEO of Boyland Auto Group, Dorian S. Boyland. “We are doing what we can to make the world a better place by not being divisive but by uplifting our community through educational opportunities for kids who otherwise would not have the same opportunity.”

The aim of the scholarship is to help ensure that the legacy of Trayvon Martin will live on within the hearts and minds of all young people who are the true catalyst for change when provided with equal educational opportunities.

The businesses and organizations participating in the Trayvon Martin Scholarship are established and led by African American men who have a strong commitment to serve and uplift their communities. These men want to make a positive difference in this tragic situation by contributing to the lives of young people through the Trayvon Martin Foundation. Boyland Auto Group, LLC is one of the largest automobile dealership holding companies headed by CEO Dorian S. Boyland.

Invictus Law Group, P.L., is an Orlando-based law firm specializing in transactional law and personal injury law.

Boyz-4-Lyfe is a group of 50 plus Black Men consisting of friends from grammar school, college friends, teammates and various fraternity brothers, who come together at least twice a year to fellowship and make community contributions.

Delta Xi Lambda is a Graduate Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., the first Black, Inter-Collegiate Greek-Lettered fraternity in the world.
